Prenatal Yoga

Congratulations, expectant mom!  We'd love to be part of your journey while helping you stay healthy, strong, happy and relaxed!

Our Prenatal Yoga classes offer prenatal yoga as a monthly series now on Tuesday evenings from 7:15-8:15pm with single class options available.  These classes will be led by one of Breathe's certified prenatal yoga teachers  Stephanie (or occasionally one of our other certified prenatal yoga teachers) and are designed with a focus on gentle stretching, specific breath work, and poses that build strength and flexibility to support your body through pregnancy. We'll work to  relieve common pregnancy aches and pains, reduce stress, and help prepare you for labor by focusing on relaxation, balance, and poses that can help with childbirth and postpartum recovery.

In addition to our prenatal specific classes, we also offer many other classes that are suitable for pregnant women. Some of our instructors are specifically certified to teach prenatal yoga (noted above) but all of our yoga teachers understand the basic modifications (the do's and don'ts) for pregnancy. We have had and continue to have expectant moms safely taking regular classes at our studio.

Any of our classes listed as level 1 should be a safe and accessible class for you. These classes include: Gentle Yoga, Coffeehouse Gentle Flow, Standing Flows Gentle Yoga and possibly Hatha Yoga and even Vinyasa or Slow Flow,  depending upon your fitness level,  You can learn more about those classes on our schedule page

While expecting you should avoid excessive twists, prone positions and deep groin stretches. Pregnant women should also avoid Yin Yoga, which focuses on long, deep stretches.  This is because of the hormone "relaxin" that your body produces when pregnant which tends to soften joints and ligaments, making you more prone to overstretching and injury in a class like this.

There is also the option to do one-on-one private sessions with one of our certified prenatal instructors.  Please contact us if you'd like information on our private yoga sessions.
