$25.00 Belly Dancing at Breathe - single class

Kelly (aka Franz Marie) is back to lead a 4-week dance series exploring the varying styles and elements of belly dance:

  • Week 1 (Sept 14) - Flamenco-Arabe style: Fuses Flamenco and Belly Dance, joining these styles in a playful choreography with Spanish fans, provided by the instructor.
  • Week 2 (Sept 21) - Fluidity - Flow Like Water: This class will explore how we can control our muscular movements to emulate flow and resistance.
  • Week 3 (MAKE UP DATE - Nov 2) - Balkan Style: This style originates from Southeastern Europe (Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia) and is based on a walking step that is in unison with fellow dancers.
  • Week 4 (Oct 5) - Air, Curiosity & Expansion: This class will take advantage of moving in the space around us, and we'll play with improvisation using techniques learned from weeks 1-3.

All classes will be offered on Saturdays from 1-2pm at Breathe.  Sign up for all 4 weeks for just $85 or pick any one(s) you'd like for $25 per class.

Here are some comments from those who have attended belly dancing at Breathe with Kelly:

"I thought Kelly was a very positive and upbeat teacher. She kept validating women----we need more teachers like her. She was fabulous!"

"This was a very good teacher. She knows her art! I've had many dance teachers and I can say she is very good!"

"The intro to the different types of styles, music, etc, was fabulous, and so was the intro to the steps. Very clear, and made so much sense"

Kelly is an official Dance Cohesion Stage 1 Trained Teacher. Kelly's whole presence as a teacher is warm, encouraging, detailed, caring, and fun! She breaks things down in a very detailed, complete, and logical sequential way. She has studied various styles of belly dance including Raqs Sharqi, Folkloric, Balkan and Odissi, and particularly enjoys creating Fusion choreographies that experiment with Modern Contemporary style. Kelly was drawn to dance at a young age as it allows her freedom of expression in ways that her day-to-day life doesn't frequently offer, and she enjoys facilitating this freedom with her students.
